September Resources

Practical support beyond the safeguarding update

September safeguarding updates are essential, but staff also need space to think about what this means in practice: what to notice, what to do, who to speak to, and how not to hold difficult things alone.

The September Ready resources are designed to support schools and youth-facing teams with practical, light-touch tools for staff confidence, communication, emotional load and safe use of AI.

Free: September Ready Checklist

The free September Ready Checklist offers a simple starting point for safeguarding, pastoral and wellbeing teams preparing for the new academic year.

Use it alongside your September planning, INSET or team meetings to support reflection without adding another big task to the start of term.

The checklist includes:

• 10 questions to ask before term starts
• prompts to use after safeguarding updates
• supportive conversation reminders for staff
• an emotional load check-in for teams
• safe AI prompts for non-confidential planning and communication
• a simple September action plan

Download the free checklist and it will be sent straight to your inbox. You’ll receive the checklist by email. Please check your junk/spam folder if it does not arrive within a few minutes. You can unsubscribe at any time.

New: Safe AI Toolkit for Schools

AI is already becoming part of how many people work, but schools and youth-facing organisations need to approach it carefully.

The September Ready Safe AI Toolkit is a practical starter resource for schools who want to introduce safe, low-risk AI use for planning, communication and admin. It is designed for use in a short staff briefing, INSET session or team meeting. The focus is not on using AI for safeguarding decisions. It is about helping staff understand what AI may support, what should be avoided, and how to keep professional judgement, safeguarding procedures and human review at the centre.

The toolkit includes:

• Safe AI Starter Pack
• Safe AI School Training Pack
• editable PowerPoint slide deck with speaker notes
• one-page facilitator guide
• printable Safe AI Action Plan
• printable Safe AI Prompt Sheet

Introductory price: £9

This early-access version is designed to support schools and youth-facing teams to take a careful first step with AI. As the toolkit develops, the price may increase.

Editable for internal use within your school or organisation. Please retain acknowledgement of Inclusive Minds Network. The materials may not be resold, redistributed commercially or presented as a separate training product without permission.

AI should never replace safeguarding judgement, professional curiosity, policy, procedure or human connection. Used carefully, it can help with non-confidential admin, planning and communication, giving staff a useful starting point while keeping the important human and safeguarding-aware work firmly with people.

New for KCSIE 2026: AI and safeguarding

KCSIE 2026 brings a strengthened focus on AI, online safety and AI-generated content.

For schools, this is not just about updating policies. It is about helping staff understand what AI-related safeguarding concerns might look like in practice, how young people may be using these tools, and how teams can respond calmly and confidently.

My AI Safeguarding Support for Schools page shares more about practical training and reflective support for DSLs, pastoral teams and school leaders.

• a focused September planning sprint

• safe AI support for non-confidential admin and communication

• reflective planning for safeguarding, pastoral and wellbeing teams

• help creating staff reminders, parent communication or simple action plans

If you would like support turning the checklist into something practical for your team, please get in touch.
