Supporting a young person’s mental health can feel difficult at times. This course is designed to help parents and carers feel more confident recognising when a young person may be struggling, starting supportive conversations and knowing how to respond.
Rather than completing the training in one full day, this course is spread across two live online evening sessions, with shorter pieces of independent learning in between.
Session 1: Tuesday 13 October, 6.30–9.15pm
Session 2: Tuesday 20 October, 6.30–8.30pm
£95 standard price
£75 introductory rate for bookings by 30 September 2026
MHFA England learner pack included
Supporting your own child can feel very different from supporting someone else.
When we care deeply, it can be harder to know what to say, when to step in, when to give space, or how to manage our own emotions alongside theirs.
This course gives you space to slow things down, build confidence and feel more comfortable having difficult conversations. It is not about turning parents into mental health professionals. It is about helping you feel more confident noticing, listening, responding and knowing when further support may be needed.
The Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion course is an accredited MHFA England programme designed to support young people aged 8–18. You’ll complete two live online sessions and two shorter pieces of independent learning beforehand.
Independent learning:
around 1 hour 30 minutes before Session 1
around 1 hour 20 minutes before Session 2
During the course, you’ll explore mental health, stigma and discrimination, depression, suicide, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders and psychosis. You’ll also learn the Mental Health First Aid action plan, alongside recovery and resilience.
You’ll receive a physical MHFA England learner pack to use during the course and keep afterwards. You’ll also have access to the online learning and live sessions, and on completion you’ll receive your Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion certificate.
By the end of the course, the aim is that you feel more confident noticing when a young person may be struggling, more comfortable starting conversations, clearer about how to listen and respond, and less pressure to have all the answers.
